Write for us
Eastern Daily Dispatch welcomes thoughtful pitches about regional geography and the ways places connect. We are interested in clear, original work that gives readers a fresh way to notice a landscape, settlement, route, place name or shared resource.
What to propose
Send a concise outline of the subject, the question your piece will answer and the category it may suit. Tell us what makes the angle distinct, what material you expect to draw on and why it will matter to a general reader.
What makes a strong pitch
Strong proposals have a specific focus, a clear line of explanation and room for nuance. Avoid broad surveys, unsupported claims about a whole region and pitches that depend on readers taking professional or official advice. Original reporting or fieldwork should be described accurately, not implied.
How to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page, selecting the editorial option and including your outline in the message. Please do not send a complete manuscript unless requested. A pitch is not a promise of publication, and we may edit accepted work for clarity and fit.
Place is more than a point on a map
A landscape, a route and a name each offer a different way into regional identity. We bring those angles together without pretending one view tells the whole story.
