Editorial policy
Eastern Daily Dispatch aims to make regional geography clear, measured and useful to curious readers. Our editorial work values accurate wording, visible distinctions between fact and interpretation, and a direct route for raising concerns.
Accuracy and context
We check names, descriptions and factual claims against appropriate sources before publication. We avoid presenting a general pattern as true of every place, and we make uncertainty clear where an account has limits. Articles are explanatory, not a substitute for checking current local information when making decisions about a particular place.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for the reader, not to promise favourable coverage to a contributor or partner. A collaboration does not guarantee an article, an endorsement or a particular conclusion.
Corrections
If you spot an error, use the Contact page and identify the article and the detail in question. We review correction requests and, when a change is warranted, amend the text in a way that makes the correction clear to readers.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid or otherwise agreed partner material is identified clearly as such and kept distinct from independent editorial work. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; where this applies, the image is labelled so readers can tell it is illustrative rather than a documentary record.
Place is more than a point on a map
A landscape, a route and a name each offer a different way into regional identity. We bring those angles together without pretending one view tells the whole story.
